All property owners are legally required to contract with the county’s appointed trash collection company:

Recycling

 Washington County has two recycling centers:

  • 887 Walnut Street, Springfield KY –  Accepts everyday items such as paper products, #1 and #2 plastic, brown, steel and aluminum cans. It is open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • 1101 St. Rose Road, also known as the old dog pound. – Accepts scrap metal and white goods (major appliances). It is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturdays.

Washington County Transfer Station (Dump)
The transfer station accepts bulky items and yard waste. We do not accept tires or weekly solid waste. There is a nominal fee for transfer station use. See Washington County’s Solid Waste information page for more information.
